A biomedical scientist at Harlow’s Princess Alexandra Hospital is officially a ‘Rising Star’.
Cherie Beckett, who works in the microbiology department, was highly commended in that category in the 2020 Healthcare Science Awards.
They celebrate the contribution of healthcare scientists to the NHS and across the broader healthcare system. The ceremony was held online after being delayed because of Covid-19.
Cherie was recognised for her role in lecturing and mentoring student biomedical scientists and being an advocate for her profession on industry networks and social media.
She said: “I’m honoured to have been highly commended. This is wonderful, after a very challenging year.
“However, the biggest reward is inspiring aspiring biomedical scientists into the profession, providing support in our network and professional growth.
“I’m passionate about my work and the impact that microbiology has on patient care, supporting our patients with a diagnosis to guide their treatment.”
